Paraprobiotics, postbiotics and other -biotics
Crha, Richard ; Šálek, Petr (referee) ; Trachtová, Štěpánka (advisor)
The theoretical part of the thesis deals with a wide range of microorganisms and substances derived from probiotics. Based on recent publications, probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, paraprobiotics, postbiotics, pharmabiotics, psychobiotics and oncobiotics are defined. Furthermore, the purpose and use of the mentioned -biotics is specified for the current understanding of their function. In the experimental part, DNA was isolated from a sample of probiotic capsules using a commercially available bacterial kit and magnetic particles. Its purity and concentration were then determined spectrophotometrically. Using the isolated DNA as a matrix for conventional PCR and detection on agarose gel, the composition of the probiotic product as declared by the manufacturer was demonstrated. Finally, the PMA-PCR method was optimized.
Probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics and postbiotics in breast milk and formulas.
ŠEBÍKOVÁ, Lucie
Intestinal microbiotics make up about 80 % of our immunity. The biggest colonization by these microorganisms happens in the first 1000 days in the life of a child, which is why it is important to maintain a balanced diet, to properly support growth and diversity of an intestinal flora. In the theoretic part of my thesis I will look closely on composition of breast milk and on other kinds of substitution of dairy nutrition. You will learn that many factors affect the composition of intestinal microbiotics. For if it comes to dysmicrobia, for example as a result of long-term use of antibiotics, it could lead to development of metabolic, immunologic and psychic issues. The goal of my bachelor thesis was to learn the contents of probiotics, prebiotics, postbiotics and synbiotics in breast milk, and in the formulas in the 1st, 6th, 12th and 18th month. My sources were professional literature and the websites of chosen dairy nutrition. For learning the exact intake of the observed substances I evaluated menus from 10 respondents. Breast milk is the most natural form of nutrition, which is why it is used as a template for making the substitution of dairy nutrition. The closest to breast milk in contents of synbiotics are brands Hipp BIO combiotik and BEBA COMFORT HM-O. Nutrilon advance has the most similar count of prebiotics, which was confirmed by observing the specific intake from menus. Nutrilon and Hami are only brands containing postbiotics thanks to the process of directed fermentation Lactofidus. This data should help in deciding what substitution of dairy nutrition to choose, if a child cannot be breastfed. But since this thesis does not evaluate the complete contents of the formulas, but rather the contains of the observed substances, we cannot presume the brands with the best results are the best option of nutrition. The choice of nutrition should be discussed with a pediatrician or a nutritionist.
Feed additives in pig nutrition
KOZINOVÁ, Eliška
Nutrition is one of the most important aspects of pig farming. Each category of pigs is fed by a special compound feed for a given group of animals. New alternatives to these drugs are still being explored due to the 2006 ban on growth-promoting antibiotics. Probiotics, prebiotics and phytobiotics, which have a positive effect on the digestive system of all categories of pigs, are becoming very popular substitutes.
Probiotics and their importance in terms of human health
ŠTROBLOVÁ, Petra
Probiotics are living microorganisms that, when properly dosed, support the development and function of an individual's microbiota, and thus overall health. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to assess the public's awareness of probiotics through a questionnaire survey and to evaluate the offer of probiotic preparations on our market. Of the 551 respondents, the majority (63 %) knew what probiotics are, what effects they have (96 %) and in which food they are most abundant (81 %). The research of the probiotic market found that the offer of these supplements in our market is very wide. A total of 72 synbiotic and 12 probiotic food supplements from 41 firefighters are available.
Probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics - are they really effective?
Šmídová, Zuzana ; Pejšová, Hana (advisor) ; Pechar, Radko (referee)
Probiotics and prebiotics constitute an important part of our nutrition and possess many positive effects on human organism. Synbiotics represent combination of both of them. The aim of the theses in the theoretical aspect was to create a systematic review of available knowledge on the given topics and in the practical part to assess the level of awareness on these topics with regard to their presence and effects. In the practical part of the theses the questionnaire survey methodology was used. After evaluation of all answers it was found out that most people are familiar with the term probiotics, less people with the term prebiotics and the least respondents with the term synbiotics. Fermented dairy products are consumed by 88,3 % of respondents, mostly 2-3 times a week. The rest not consuming them indicated mostly the reasons of bad flavour or some form of intolerance. The respondents know also other fermented foods (sauerkraut, vegetables), however, these are less consumed than fermented dairy products. The least often the food supplements containing these substances are consumed. Due to the low level of awareness on prebiotics and synbiotics it would be very appropriate to improve public awareness on the given topics in order to increase their consumption, mainly in the form of their natural...
Probiotic bacteria in dairy products
KORANDOVÁ, Květa
Probiotic microorganisms are live organisms that facilitate optimal composition of intestinal flora. The thesis deals with the positive influence of probiotic microorganisms on human health. It describes the most frequently used bacteria family, which includes Lactobacillus, Lactococcus, Streptococcus and Bifidobacterium. The thesis also deals with health, microbiologic and technological requirements necessary for probiotic effectiveness. It offers an overview of characteristics of products containing probiotic microorganisms, which include pharmaceuticals and selected functional food. In the food group, the thesis particularly focuses on fermented milk products.
History of infant nutrition since 1945 to 2008
VACUŠKOVÁ, Miluše
Nutrition of children of each age has its particular aspects. For the new born and infantile age it is mainly breast-feeding that is very significant. Nutrition with breast milk is ideally balanced, ensures the intake of high-quality nutrition that is well tolerated by the young organism and ensures the optimal growth and psychological development of the child. Thanks to its composition, breast milk increases the protective impact on the child with respect to infections and creates a natural bond between the mother and the child. In the Thesis, I was trying to look up decisive moments in the infantile nutrition concept both in this country and worldwide and to map the issue of breast feeding and formula feeding since the end of the Second World War up to the present. Also, I wanted to emphasize the irreplaceability of breast milk as wel as supplementing of artificial milks with probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics and their importance in the nutrition of children. Objective No. 1 of the Thesis has been to look up the key points in the infantile nutrition concept in the world since the beginning of the nineteenth century and since 1945 until this day in the Czech Republic. Objective No. 2 has been to prove that infantile formula nutrition has been focusing also on the immunological aspect apart from the nutritional ones. Objective No. 3 has been to create and aducational program proposal, which can serve as a practical guide for the application of theoretical data in clinical practice. Data necessary to achieve the determined objectives have been acquired by studing, analyses and comparison of available written documents relating to the natural and formula nutrition of infants. Most of these documents have been intended for the educational purposes at secondary school and universities in the Czech Republic. Also, data heve been taken from publications for parents and broad public published since 1945 until this day. By way of illustration, certain charts containing schemes of artificial nutrition corresponding to the time of creation have been used. On these schemes I wanted to show the chages in the concepts brought about by the development not only in the knowledge and thinking of people dealing with the nutrition of infants but also in the new possibilities and technology of the food processing industry.
The nutraceutic of food and their healthy significance. Metaanalytic study.
MARKOVÁ CHOCHOLOVÁ, Jana
This bachelor thesis deals with nutraceutical impact of fermented products on human organism. It presents old fermentation technologies, which are very important for nutraceutical production. Every so called new consumer in the 21. century prefers nutraceutics - probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics, because these products have supposedly healthy-improving influence on human immunity and defence mechanism. This bachelor thesis presents several projects from 2006 and these projects confirm and deepen knowledges in nutraceutical products.
